I don’t read much contemporary poetry because it mostly has a feeling of resigned depression, a feeling that is impractical towards the present negative domestic and foreign American affairs.
Also, contemporary poetry comes out of universities, and having graduated a creative writing program I am unwilling to follow the rules
1) Write every day
2) You should always be writing for someone else
Writing poetry should not be a rigorous routine nor should it be professional. Professional poetry makes about as much sense as paying someone else to clean your ears.
Now that that’s finished. The bio. I graduated from an overpriced private university, for creative writing. What I will reflect in this blog does not reflect one opinion found within said university. These are mine, they have been and will be; no man, woman, or institution is going to change that (with the exception of myself and my reclusive dictatorship).
Also, I play guitar and harmonica. I’m working on writing songs, no poetry at the moment. I may post some poetry I’ll write on here. I don’t care if it’s going to get stolen, they are just words, and as the university taught me, they are words that will only bring little (if any) $$$ if you suck it up and get a Ph.d. So I won’t be disappointed if I’m short-changed a few bucks just because I like to share the arrangement of words.
I forgot. When I get my music on CD and on myspace I’ll be sure to link those that visit this site. My band is also putting together a CD in July which will also be on myspace (hopefully).
Real World:
I got hired today as well. I’ll be riding in and unloading trucks. It’ll beef me up so I’ll be very sexy. Keep viewing the blog for semi-clad half-naked photos to show up.
